Successful Stories
Ortho-K is a definite replacement if you ever get tired of wearing glasses it’s a really efficient technology because it functions similarly to normal contact lenses. Instead of wearing the lenses every hour every day, Ortho-K only requires you to wear it while you sleep. Before you know it, you will be experiencing clear vision without wearing anything, whether it is glasses or normal contacts lenses. Just like everything, Ortho-K can have its down sides but it’s really minor. The most major pet peeve is the itchiness in your eyes when you wear the lenses, but don’t worry, that goes away in about 2 week. Overall, I really do recommend all glass wearers to at least give a chance with Ortho-K. Not only is it an option to experience a HD world, but also a method to personally fulfil yourself. Based on my experiences, I’d give Ortho-K 10 out of 10.

When I wear the contacts, I feel like weird when I wear it. For example, the lenses are bugging me. However, after a few minutes my eyes adapted to the lenses and I’m okay with it. I am comfortable sleeping in it and it’s doesn’t bug me while I am sleeping. When I wake up, my eyes are really dry and even after inserting eye drops the contacts won’t move. After I remove the lenses, it isn’t that clear during the day, my eyesight improved and become clearer.

I like wearing contact lens because it helps my eyes to see clearly without glasses. I don’t feel burdens of having glasses on my face. Sometimes, having glasses make me feel dizzy and headache yet I don’t like the feeling. Now that I am wearing contact lens, I don’t feel any pains on my eyes and I am extremely happy just for that.

I like wearing contact lenses as my degree stops going up. If I wear spectacles, I can see the frame but I won’t see it if I wear contacts.

Lenses are easy to use and when we do activities we occasionally will need to take out glasses but I wear contact lenses so I will have perfect vision. I play football a lot and occasionally, my friend’s glasses will get smashed but if the ball hits me, it is alright.

Wearing these lenses has been a decision I am very happy about. They make seeing during the day much more comfortable and not wearing contacts or glasses allows me to do activities especially sport a lot more easily. Cleaning and storing the lenses is quick and very quickly becomes routine. I would definitely recommend!

Wearing the Ortho-K lenses has brought much convenience to my life. They’re so great that I’ve continued to wear them for the past 11 years. The Ortho-K lenses have not only effectively kept my degree under control, but also allow me to have perfect vision during the day (without the need to wear spectacles or contact lenses). I would definitely recommend them to people!

The benefit of wearing night contact-lenses are being able to swim with clear vision, when it rains, not having to worry about your glasses, and more. When I wear glasses, the skin under my eyes get darker (I don’t know why), and glasses are annoying.

Dear Dr Stan,
I came across the informing of Mr Isaacs passing (he never referred to himself as Doctor) today as I was clearing old papers and knew I must write to the family. His anniversary 18 years is on 1st October.
I believe I was Mr Isaacs first keratoconus patients in 1963/1964 and I was under his care till I left Singapore in 1979. Now I am under the care of Moorfields Eye Hospital.
I was referred to Mr Isaacs by Dr Yeo who used to practice at Shaw centre. I recall Mr Isaacs informing my parents that treatment for the condition was in its initial stages, but he would try and do his best. I was 13 at the time and for 16 years he treated me with patience, knowledge, skills and kindness and was always keen to give me the best vision.
As that time there was even suggestion that I should discontinue school because of keratoconus’s poor vision but contact lenses helped me. In all those years vision was not ideal, and he tried scleral lenses which were not ideal. I went back to hard contact lenses. Gas permeable made and large difference to comfort later but I was a difficult keratoconus case. Though vision was lacking because of Mr Isaacs comfort lenses I qualified as a teacher in years to come.
I struggled with poor vision until finally I was referred to Moorfields and things improved. In 1995, I had a corneal graft in the Right eye and in 2006 had to piggyback hard over soft lenses in the left eye. I am thrilled to have good vision now.
I am more than grateful to your father whose dedication and generosity to his patients has helped too many to count. I am grateful that the pioneering work he started not only continues but is taken to next level by you, a leading authority in the field.
May you and the family be greatly blessed and prosper.
Sincerely, Davina Ambrose
